A craft project that expresses itself through the use of botanical elements collected in nature, then dipped in copper and silver.
In order not to lose the knowledge of our flora. The elements that I collect come mostly from my surroundings; the Alps, the Prealps and the first Po Valley. Collecting them from the ground and working them so that someone can take them with them is a way to honor these territories that give me the opportunity to grow every day. In a historical period where everything runs and everything escapes, stopping to observe the small things that surround us is a huge opportunity. Little by little we are losing knowledge of the world around us, of our flora and our fauna. I hope that these objects can be a starting point that revives interest in the herbs and creatures of our places.
MATHOM was the term used by the Hobbits for anything that had no real practical use but that they were reluctant to throw away.
My perception of the jewel is as something without a real utility but that takes on a strong meaning for each of us, a form of amulet that we cannot throw away.
For this reason I chose it as the medium of my message, I hope it helps me to convey a little of the knowledge of the flora and fauna of this territory, which unfortunately is being lost more and more.
Most of the elements that I use come from my surroundings, the Alps, Prealps and Po Valley, while the bones are findings of mine or of friends, so no form of violence was used to obtain them, only respect and the desire to honor these animals even after death.
Searching for these elements takes time and continues to teach me something more about my roots, myself and the importance of returning to a slow life, with less space for humans and more for nature, in all its other forms.
I hope to be able to make you perceive, at least in part, all the richness of the nature of my territory and the places I visit.
